Commission for Aviation Regulation Notice regarding Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd ceasing to trade 27th April 2021

Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd t/a Concorde Travel, Joe Walsh Tours, Cara Holidays and Pilgrimages Abroad is unable to fulfil its obligations to its customers.

The Commission operates a consumer protection scheme and, if you find you are out of pocket, you may be covered by this scheme.

The Commission also operates a Refund Credit Note Scheme. You may be covered by this scheme if your holiday has been cancelled due to Covid-19 and you have yet to receive a refund from Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd.

 

Am I covered by the consumer protection schemes?

You may be covered by the consumer protection schemes if you purchased a package from Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd trading names listed above) and this package includes travel, departing Ireland. You may also be covered by the scheme if you bought travel (alone) commencing in Ireland.

If you were issued with a Refund Credit Note from Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd  (trading names listed above) you may be entitled to a refund from the Refund Credit Note scheme, if your booking was a package that included travel, departing Ireland.

There is also separate consumer protection in place to cover customers who bought a travel package commencing elsewhere in Europe.

 

Group Bookings:

If you have a booking as part of a group and you paid Joe Walsh Pilgrimtours Ltd  (trading names listed above) directly please complete and submit the claim form below.

However, if you have a booking that is part of a group and you paid your group organiser directly, please be advised that the group organiser must complete and submit the form below on behalf of the entire group.

 

How can I make a claim?

For customers who bought either travel alone or a travel package commencing in Ireland a claim form is available here. You must submit your claim form within 60 days of the collapse of the business. The Commission will then assess these claims to determine the amount due to the claimant.

For customers who bought a travel package commencing elsewhere in Europe we will issue details about how you can make a claim as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, no other customers are covered by the scheme. If you are one of these customers, we advise you to look at the charge back policy of your credit/debit card provider and/or any holiday insurance you may have in place.

[i] The Commission has the following roles under the broad heading of travel trade licensing:

Licensing travel agents and tour operators, established in Ireland, buying and selling overseas travel packages and ensuring their other packages within the EU are covered with insolvency protection also.
Administering a bonding scheme for travel agents and tour operators established in Ireland.
Ensuring organisers established within the EU, selling or offering for sale packages and linked travel arrangements in Ireland comply with the requirement to inform the Commission of the security they have in place.
Ensuring organisers established outside the EU, selling or offering for sale packages and linked travel arrangements in Ireland provide security for their Irish sales.
Administering the Travellers’ Protection Fund (which was built up with a levy on passengers of tour operators between 1983 and 1987). This only applies for licensed travel agents and tour operators.
Processing claims for refunds and repatriation in the event of a regulated business being unable to meet its obligations.
Investigating instances of alleged illegal trading and, when necessary, prosecuting illegal traders.
